The looks we get when people ask how we met are quite hilarious. "Back in my day, we didn't have those apps," they say. Well, in our day, true love is hard to find, especially in a best friend. For the LOTR nerds out there, think of the romance of Aragorn and Arwen (or Beren and Luthien) but with the camaraderie and humor of Legolas and Gimli. For the non-nerds, well, I'm afraid there's no other comparison other than we love each other, very much.

It was a miracle that we found each other, even on a dating app. A glitch on Upward (the dating site) somehow made us "Super Like" each other. From our first phone call, we spilled our whole life stories, the good and the bad.  We called each other for hours every day after that. Then, we met each other, and we instantly knew that our lives would never be the same without each other. We constantly ask each other, "Where have you been all my life?" or "I wish I could have met you when we were teens."

 

Devlin lives in Ollala, WA and Alisa lives in Monroe, WA. If you can do the math, that's a lot of mileage between two lovers in Washington State. Rain or shine, Devlin travels most weekends to see Alisa. For all the miles between them, they know each other like their own faces reflected in a mirror. Devlin works as a highly specialized welder and Alisa as a graphic designer. They can't wait for the day when their lives can be joined together as husband and wife. It just simply makes sense to save on the gas...nowadays.
